Julie attended the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Physical Therapy in 1997. She also trained with UW Orthopedics and UW Spine Physical Therapy clinics. She is a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS designation), Board Certified Women’s Health Clinical Specialist (WCS designation), and holds a Certificate of Achievement in Pelvic PT (CAPP). She is a member of the University of Wisconsin Physical Therapy School Admissions Board, and has been recognized with the prestigious “40 Under 40” award by Greater Madison InBusiness Magazine.

Julie serves as Capitol PT’s President, Chief Clinical Officer, Care Provider, and Compliance Program Director. Throughout her career, Julie has served roles in many facets of the Physical Therapy profession. She has worked in the state of Washington in sports medicine and industrial rehabilitation, in Madison as a multiple-clinic supervisor and key figure in the development of in-house rehabilitation departments at Oakwood Village and Attic Angel Place retirement facilities, and as a private practice owner. Julie has instructed Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech Therapists, and Assistants on documentation, coding, and billing of therapy services and has in-depth understanding of state certification, Medicare regulations, and federal payer guidelines. She has been a Certified Clinical Instructor for the American Physical Therapy Association since 2001, and an ErgoScience® Certified Functional Capacity Evaluator since 2005. She has instructed UW Medical Residents on physical therapy services during their observation hours at Capitol PT since 2007. She writes several articles each year for local magazines and newspapers on physical therapy treatments and services.

Julie is currently a member of the American Physical Therapy Association and the Wisconsin Physical Therapy Association, with membership in the Orthopedic, Women's Health and Private Practice Sections. Julie enjoys water skiing, weight lifting, running, and spending time with her family.





*OCS: The OCS designation is an acronym for Orthopedic Clinical Specialist. This is a board-certification granted by the American Physical Therapy Association. In order to obtain this highest achievable designation, a therapist must apply for and be approved by the APTA board to sit for the exam. Included in the application are:

  1. Logged hours of clinical care in orthopedic physical therapy
  2. Proof of clinical readiness to sit for the examination through continuing education in: Cervical (neck), TMJ (jaw pain), thoracic spine (mid back) and ribs, pelvis, lumbar spine (low back), shoulder, elbow, wrist, hand, hip, knee, foot and ankle.

*WCS: The WCS designation is an acronym for Women’s Health Clinical Specialist. This is a board-certification granted by the American Physical Therapy Association. In order to obtain this highest achievable designation, a therapist must apply for and be approved by the APTA board to sit for the exam. Included in the application are:

  1. Logged hours of clinical care in women’s health physical therapy
  2. Submission of a case report with in-depth evaluation, treatment, and research referenced on a women’s health patient
  3. Proof of clinical readiness to sit for the examination through continuing education in: pelvic physical therapy, treatment of the obstetric patient, EMG biofeedback, heart disease, breast cancer and oncology physical therapy, lymphedema, Fibromyalgia, Osteoporosis, ACJ injury prevention and screening for the female athlete triad (over-exercise, loss of menstrual cycle, and osteoporosis), and orthopedic issues specific to the female population
